Pakistan has been one of those countries which could not put in place its data privacy law in all these years. Considering the impact of data privacy on public and private institutions, a data privacy bill was proposed in 2021. Most recently a final draft bill “Personal Data Protection Bill 2023” has been approved by the federal cabinet. Taking in view the far reaching impact of data privacy and implications of personal data breach, our firm has been working on data protection since last couple of years and has introspected the law in every possible manner & has contributed in most editions of reputable publications on the subject of “data privacy”. Recently our Partners have contributed a #Pakistan Chapter in International Comparative Legal Guide – Data Protection 2023. The Q/A based guide reflects on different aspects of privacy law that is likely to be applicable in Pakistan soon.
