Another encouraging development for Pakistan’s trade remedy framework at the outset of 2026
Continuing a strong start to 2026, on January 15, 2026, the National Tariff Commission of Pakistan (NTC) has imposed provisional anti-dumping duties ranging from 3.49% to 12.54% on dumped imports of Soda Ash (PCT 2836.2000) originating from Türkiye and Kenya. These duties will remain in force for four months, effective from 15 January 2026.
We were privileged to represent Lucky Core Industries Limited and Olympia Chemicals Limited, from the preparation and filing of the anti-dumping application to diligent pursuit of the case before the Commission. The determination reflects the NTC’s preliminary finding of dumping and material injury to the domestic industry caused by unfairly traded imports.
This development marks an important step toward protecting Pakistan’s domestic chemical industry and reinforces the effectiveness of evidence-based trade remedies in addressing unfair trade practices. We are confident that this outcome lays a strong foundation for a favorable final determination.
