On 15 October 2026, the Commission issued its preliminary determination in the anti-dumping investigation concerning imports of Ibuprofen originating in and/or exported from China and the United States of America. The Commission’s preliminary findings confirmed the existence of dumping, material injury to the domestic industry and a causal link between the two. Based on these findings, the Commission imposed provisional anti-dumping duties of ๐ด.๐ณ๐ญ% on imports ๐ณ๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ and ๐ณ.๐ณ๐ณ% on imports ๐ณ๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐จ๐ฆ๐.
These provisional duties will remain effective for four months while the investigation proceeds towards the final determination. Since the foreign exporters did not respond to the Commission’s questionnaires, the dumping determination was based on the best information available, in accordance with Section 32 of the Anti-Dumping Duties Act, 2015. The final determination is expected within 180 days from the publication of the preliminary determination notice.
The imposition of provisional anti-dumping duties is an important step towards protecting Pakistanโs domestic Ibuprofen industry from the injurious effects of dumped imports. These measures are expected to provide relief to domestic manufacturers and help restore fair competition in the market. It is hoped that the final determination will result in the imposition of definitive anti-dumping duties for a period of five years, providing continued level playing field against dumping.
