We are proud to share a landmark achievement for S. U. Khan Associates and the domestic steel industry. On June 28, 2025, the National Tariff Commission (NTC) has concluded Pakistan\u2019s first-ever anti-circumvention investigation, resulting in extending the scope of anti-dumping duties (already imposed on Galvanized Steel Coils \/ Steels imports from China) on slightly modified like product described as Galvalume Steel Coils\/Sheets\u2014a direct outcome of our firm\u2019s strategic representation and tireless legal advocacy. This case sets a critical precedent in Pakistan\u2019s trade remedy jurisprudence and affirms the principle that trade defense measures, once imposed, cannot be neutralized through slight product modification. It also signals a new level of institutional maturity within the NTC in addressing oblique trade practices that undermine the measures adopted by the authority as well as upholding the integrity of trade remedies under the WTO framework.
This outcome is not only a legal victory but would serve as a policy milestone. It introduces anti-circumvention enforcement into Pakistan\u2019s trade remedy framework and offers a roadmap for other industries facing similar challenges from unfair trade practices, sending strong signal to exporters and importers at the same time, that evasion of trade remedies will not go unchecked.
